Building a tiny Paste bin in a weekend

Sometimes the fastest way to learn is to rebuild something simple that already exists. This
weekend I built copypaste — a small self-hosted paste bin.

The rules I set myself

One directory, no dependencies
Shareable short links
Expiry optional, deletions easy

What I learned

Keeping state in flat files is plenty for a tool this size. The hard part was never the
storage — it was the small UX details:

Auto-selecting the paste on open
Letting people set a custom slug
A clean "copy" button that actually works on mobile
